Monroe County, NY – Deputies have arrested a Rochester man following an investigation into multiple reports of inappropriate behavior on the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) campus, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

According to investigators, the incidents involved an individual allegedly making inappropriate comments and, in some cases, physical advancements toward pedestrians along campus walkways. Witnesses reported that in several instances, the man was wearing a bear costume. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported in connection with the incidents.

After several days of evidence collection and witness interviews, deputies identified and located the suspect on Wednesday. Following questioning, Mohammad S. Akbari, 33, of Rochester, was charged with Forcible Touching, a Class A misdemeanor.

Authorities say Akbari has been banned from all RIT campuses and was taken to Monroe County CAP Court to await arraignment.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation to the RIT Public Safety Department for their cooperation and assistance throughout the investigation.
