Perinton, NY – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Thursday morning that five suspects are in custody following a string of overnight vehicle larcenies impacting neighborhoods across Perinton and southern Penfield.

According to MCSO, investigators believe more than 100 vehicles were entered overnight, marking one of the largest theft clusters reported this year in Monroe County. Deputies began investigating after receiving multiple calls of suspicious activity and vehicle break-ins early Thursday.

The sheriff’s office said deputies located a suspect vehicle on Macedon Center Road in Perinton, which led to a pursuit that ended near Green Ridge Road and Green Valley Road. The five individuals were taken into custody, and deputies continue to interview them as evidence is collected across affected neighborhoods.

Officials said the highest concentration of thefts appears to be near Whitney Road and Route 441. There is currently no indication of an ongoing threat to public safety, but deputies ask anyone with home camera footage or information about suspicious overnight activity to contact 911.

The investigation remains active, with MCSO using drone and K9 teams to assist in evidence recovery.

Residents are reminded to remove valuables from vehicles and ensure doors are locked, especially overnight.
