Monroe County, MI – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning about phone scams occurring today. Scammers are using a cloned Sheriff’s Office number to impersonate officials and threaten residents with arrest for missing jury duty unless they send money.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the scammers provide a callback number, 734-224-5935, for the victims to contact them regarding the fraudulent transaction.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasizes they will never request money over the phone. Residents receiving such calls should report them to Central Dispatch at 734-243-7070.
