LaSalle Township, Monroe County, MI – Investigators are asking for the public’s help after a hit-and-run crash damaged fencing and a concrete pillar at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery earlier this month.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred Thursday, January 1, 2026, at approximately 11:40 a.m. along South Dixie Highway near the cemetery at 13200 S. Dixie Highway in LaSalle Township.
Authorities say an unknown-year gray Chevrolet Impala was traveling northbound on S. Dixie Highway when it left the roadway for unknown reasons, crossed to the east side of the road, and struck several sections of fencing along with a concrete pillar inside the cemetery grounds. The driver then fled the scene without reporting the damage.
Investigators located vehicle parts at the scene, including exterior identification badges consistent with a Chevrolet Impala FlexFuel passenger vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
No injuries were reported, but the crash caused significant property damage to the cemetery, officials said.
The investigation is being handled by Deputy John Bills of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Services Division. Deputies are continuing efforts to identify both the vehicle and the driver involved.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, noticed damage to a gray Chevrolet Impala, or has additional information is urged to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 734-240-7753 or Monroe County Central Dispatch at 734-243-7070. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or online at www.1800speakup.org.
Residents in the area are encouraged to check security or dash camera footage that may have captured the vehicle before or after the crash.
