Monroe County, IN Traffic Alert: I-69 Rollover Injures Six Near Bloomington, Shuts Down Lanes This Morning

Bloomington, Indiana – A violent rollover crash on Interstate 69 shut down northbound traffic near mile marker 107.5 just after the morning commute began Sunday, leaving multiple people seriously injured and prompting a large emergency response.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:41 a.m. Sunday to a crash involving a 2025 Ford Explorer that veered off the roadway, entered the median, and overturned. A 37-year-old man from Mooresville was driving, with a 37-year-old woman and four children also inside the vehicle.

First responders with the Monroe Fire Protection District had to extricate several occupants who were trapped inside the SUV. Authorities say all passengers suffered significant injuries. Emergency crews transported the victims to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, while one child required transfer to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis for further care.

The crash forced disruptions along northbound I-69 as investigators worked the scene. The Monroe County Major Crash Investigation Team is actively reviewing the incident, with officials noting the driver is cooperating.
