Monroe County, IN – A Christmas Day police pursuit ended dramatically after a stolen SUV crashed through the security fence at the Monroe County Airport before fleeing into Greene County, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies located the stolen Black Chevy Equinox around 4:41 p.m. on December 25 near South Rogers Street and South Rockport Road. The vehicle had been reported stolen to the Bloomington Police Department the previous day. When deputies attempted a traffic stop, the driver allegedly refused to yield, sparking a high-speed pursuit.

According to officials, the chase traveled across Monroe County and reached the airport entrance, where the suspect allegedly drove through an interior security gate and onto the tarmac. The vehicle then exited through another fence before heading into Greene County.

Deputies eventually lost visual contact with the Equinox after unsuccessful tire deflation attempts. The vehicle was later found unoccupied near East State Road 54 in Greene County. Bloomington Police towed the SUV for evidence after a K9 search for the suspect proved unsuccessful.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office later reported that the suspect had been seen on several security cameras and may now be driving a stolen Ford F-250. Officials warned that the suspect may be armed and should be considered dangerous.

Anyone with information or video footage related to the case is urged to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on their official website.
