Bloomington, IN – A routine overnight traffic stop in Monroe County led to a major drug seizure early Saturday morning, resulting in multiple felony charges for a local woman.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, third-shift deputies stopped a vehicle around 2:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, near Kinser Pike and the State Road 45/46 Bypass after noticing the vehicle did not have its headlights activated.

During the stop, deputies allegedly observed indicators of potential criminal activity and requested assistance from K9 Figo to conduct a free-air sniff around the vehicle. Authorities said the K9 indicated the presence of narcotics, prompting a search of the vehicle.

Deputies reportedly located nearly half a pound (214 grams) of suspected methamphetamine, along with suspected heroin and fentanyl. Investigators also recovered items they say were consistent with the distribution of illegal narcotics, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver, identified as Brandy Shifflett, 46, was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Jail.

According to jail records, Shifflett was booked on the following charges:

  • Dealing in Methamphetamine (Level 2 Felony)
  • Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 3 Felony)
  • Possession of a Narcotic Drug (Level 6 Felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana (Class B Misdemeanor)

Authorities emphasized that all charges are allegations, and Shifflett is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The case remains under investigation. No additional suspects were announced.
