Hecker, IL – Deputies in Monroe County are asking the public for help after a burglary in Hecker left one homeowner without a utility vehicle and outboard motor.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded Thursday, September 18, 2025, to a home in the 300 block of South Main Street after a report of a burglary to a detached shed. Investigators said the theft likely occurred between Tuesday night, September 16, after 7:30 p.m., and Thursday afternoon, September 18, around 4:30 p.m.

The stolen items include a 2023 Polaris General XP side-by-side in gray with blue accents. The vehicle is a four-seater with stickers on the rear window and two American flags mounted on the back. Deputies said a 99-horsepower Mercury outboard motor was also taken.

Based on the investigation, authorities believe the stolen side-by-side may have been driven south through a nearby field before entering Illinois Route 159.

The Sheriff’s Department is requesting assistance from the public. Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity, saw the side-by-side, or has information about the burglary or stolen items is urged to contact investigators.
