Davenport, Iowa – Mild temperatures will continue across the Quad Cities region this week, with a brief period of gusty winds Tuesday morning followed by dry conditions through midweek and a return of precipitation chances by Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, a cold front will pass through the region early Tuesday, bringing northwest wind gusts up to 25 mph, particularly during the morning hours. While no hazardous weather is expected, the gusty winds may create difficult travel conditions for high-profile vehicles on open roadways.
Temperatures will remain well above seasonal averages. Overnight lows tonight are expected to range from 31 to 39 degrees, followed by highs between 39 and 51 degrees Tuesday. Winds will gradually diminish later Tuesday as skies partially clear.
By Wednesday, conditions improve further with mostly sunny skies, lighter winds, and highs ranging from 40 to 49 degrees. Dry weather is expected to persist through much of the day, making midweek travel and outdoor activities favorable for early February.
Attention then turns to Thursday, when cloud cover increases and a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain or snow returns to the forecast. At this time, precipitation amounts appear light, and no significant impacts are anticipated. Temperatures on Thursday are forecast to reach 38 to 47 degrees, which would support mainly rain during the daytime, with a brief mix possible in cooler periods.
Major travel corridors including Interstate 80, Interstate 74, Interstate 280, U.S. Highway 61, and U.S. Highway 67 could experience blustery crosswinds Tuesday morning, followed by generally dry and favorable driving conditions through Wednesday.
No watches or advisories are currently in effect for the Quad Cities region.
Commuters, truck drivers, and morning travelers should remain alert for gusty winds early Tuesday, especially on exposed bridges and open stretches of highway.
Forecast confidence is high regarding mild and dry conditions through midweek, with moderate confidence in Thursday’s precipitation chances. Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts as the end-of-week system approaches.
