Moline, IL – Firefighters in Moline responded late Tuesday night to a residential garage fire that damaged two vehicles but spared the home from major harm.
According to the Moline Fire Department, crews were dispatched around 10:14 p.m. on October 7 to the 4700 block of 26th Avenue, where they found an unattached one-story garage fully engulfed in flames. The occupants of the home had already evacuated safely before firefighters arrived.
Officials said crews reached the scene within five minutes and launched an aggressive attack to contain the fire, which was brought under control in roughly 20 minutes. Two vehicles parked in the driveway sustained damage from the blaze.
Additional assistance came from the East Moline Fire Department, Rock Island Arsenal Fire Department, and Rock Island Fire Department. MidAmerican Energy was also called to secure the property’s utilities.
No residents were displaced, and firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to the main structure.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Moline Fire Department’s Bureau of Investigations. Anyone with information is asked to contact Fire Marshal Cunningham at 309-524-2250.
