Moline, IL – A fire on Monday evening displaced a family from their 44th Street home, but no injuries occurred.

Firefighters arrived within six minutes after reports of smoke came from a two-story home at 1824 44th Street. Crews quickly entered the structure, located the fire, and extinguished it in under an hour. The home’s occupants evacuated safely before firefighters arrived, assisted by smoke detectors that alerted them.

The blaze caused damage severe enough to temporarily displace the family. The American Red Cross is providing support to the family during this time.

Cold temperatures complicated firefighting efforts. A MetroLINK bus provided temporary shelter for firefighters and personnel. Crews from Rock Island, Arsenal, and Mid-America Energy assisted at the scene.

Officials are investigating the fire’s cause. The Moline Fire Department urges residents to test smoke detectors regularly.

Anyone with information can contact the department at 309-524-2250.
