Hanford, CA – The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Wind Advisory for the Mojave Desert Slopes, warning of strong west winds through the weekend. The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Saturday until 11 p.m. Sunday.
Forecasters expect sustained winds between 20 and 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph across the desert slopes, including areas near Mojave and Highway 58. The strongest winds are anticipated during the afternoon and evening hours both Saturday and Sunday.
According to the NWS, the gusty conditions could blow around unsecured objects, down tree limbs, and potentially lead to isolated power outages. Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, are urged to use extra caution, as blowing dust may reduce visibility in exposed areas.
Winds are expected to gradually weaken late Sunday night as the system exits the region. For updated forecasts and road condition information, visit weather.gov/hanford.
