St. Louis, MO – Missouri residents should prepare for a rollercoaster of weather this week. While temperatures start out cooler today, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued several advisories, including a wildfire risk today and frost warnings by midweek. These changes will affect travel, daily activities, and public safety.

According to the NWS, strong northwest winds, combined with dry air and low humidity, create an increased risk for wildfires today, particularly between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Winds are expected to reach up to 28 mph, affecting much of the area, including highways I-44 and I-70. Authorities urge residents to avoid burning and exercise extreme caution with open flames.

Looking ahead, a significant drop in temperatures is forecast. Starting Monday, highs will range from 60 to 65 degrees, cooling further on Tuesday to the mid-50s. By Wednesday, widespread frost is expected, with a light freeze possible for areas west of the Mississippi River. Lows could plunge to near 30 degrees. The NWS advises residents to cover plants and protect outdoor pipes starting Tuesday night.

This fall chill will persist, with temperatures staying below normal until at least Thursday. Highs will struggle to reach 60 degrees midweek, though conditions should be mostly sunny. As the cold snap progresses, be sure to check for updates and stay prepared for changing conditions.
