Kansas City, MO – Snow and strong winds are set to impact northwest Missouri late Tuesday into Wednesday, creating hazardous travel conditions. Areas in northern Missouri and northeastern Kansas could see light snowfall, with stronger winds worsening visibility.
According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms will begin Tuesday, transitioning to snow by Tuesday night as colder air moves in. Winds from the northwest will strengthen overnight, with gusts reaching 55 mph or higher. Blowing snow could create slick roads and reduced visibility.
Snow accumulation is expected to remain light, with most areas receiving less than an inch. However, localized spots northwest of Kansas City may see up to two inches. The strongest winds will hit central and northern Missouri, increasing the risk of travel disruptions.
Drivers should prepare for difficult conditions Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, especially in open areas prone to wind-driven snow. If traveling, check road conditions and allow extra time for commutes.
The storm system will move east by Wednesday afternoon, bringing calmer conditions. Stay updated on forecasts and advisories from the National Weather Service.
