Farmington, MO – A powerful winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall to portions of east-central and southeast Missouri, with accumulations between 5 and 10 inches expected. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 3 a.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday, impacting multiple counties, including Crawford, Washington, and Saint Francois.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis, the heaviest snowfall will occur throughout Tuesday, making travel hazardous. Both the morning and evening commutes could be significantly impacted, with some roads becoming impassable due to rapid accumulation.

Residents are urged to prepare for dangerous conditions. If travel is unavoidable, authorities recommend keeping an emergency kit in vehicles, including food, water, and a flashlight. Road condition updates are available through the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) at traveler.modot.org/map or by calling 1-888-275-6636.

The storm is expected to taper off by early Wednesday, but lingering snow and ice could still affect morning travel. Officials advise staying informed on weather updates and delaying non-essential travel.
