KANSAS CITY, Mo.–Kan. – Raindrops streak across windshields under a dim gray sky this morning as gusty winds whip through the metro. The chill is unmistakable, the air raw — a sign that late October has arrived in full force. Strong winds and a sharp cooldown are leading into what’s shaping up to be a calm, bright Halloween finish.

According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, a Wind Advisory remains in effect through midmorning, with northwest gusts up to 35 mph possible along I-70 and I-435. A Frost Advisory follows late tonight into early Thursday, as temperatures dip into the mid-30s under clearing skies. Gardeners should cover sensitive plants or bring potted ones indoors to avoid early freeze damage.

Today will stay breezy and damp with highs in the lower 50s, while rain gradually tapers off by midday. Clearing skies arrive by late afternoon, and calmer conditions return overnight. Thursday and Friday bring much quieter, sunnier weather, marking an ideal setup for the Halloween weekend.

Friday — Halloween — will be mild and crisp, with afternoon highs near 59°F before temperatures fall into the low 40s during trick-or-treat hours. Winds will stay light, and skies will be mostly clear, creating near-perfect conditions for evening events across Jackson, Wyandotte, and Clay Counties.

The weekend stays dry with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s before a gradual warming trend begins Sunday. Clocks fall back early Sunday morning, bringing darker evenings and the first chill hints of November close behind.
