According to the NWS, widespread rain will continue through the week, with the highest chances of precipitation expected Friday, April 4. Severe thunderstorms are possible, particularly Friday afternoon and evening, with large hail identified as the primary hazard. Areas in southeast Missouri and southern Illinois are particularly vulnerable to high rainfall amounts and flooding.
The NWS predicts that the risk of severe weather will extend into Saturday, April 5, as rainfall continues to affect the region. Localized flooding could become an issue, especially in low-lying areas.
