ST. LOUIS – Snow is spreading across central and eastern Missouri and into southwest Illinois this evening, creating slick and hazardous travel that will persist through late tonight. The National Weather Service in St. Louis reports that several Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect, with ending times ranging from 9 p.m. Monday in northern Missouri to 3 a.m. Tuesday in far southern Illinois and southeast Missouri.

Snow totals will range from 1 to 3 inches for most of the region, with localized higher amounts possible south of St. Louis. Communities including Quincy, Columbia, Jefferson City, St. Charles, Belleville, and Farmington will see reduced visibility and icy conditions through the evening commute.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, snow-covered and slick roadways are being reported along I-70, I-44, and I-55. Travel will remain hazardous into the overnight hours, especially on untreated roads, bridges, and ramps. Drivers should reduce speed, increase stopping distance, and check traveler.modot.org/map or GettingAroundIllinois.com for the latest travel updates.

Snow will gradually taper north to south after midnight, though refreezing is likely before sunrise Tuesday. Motorists and pedestrians alike should use caution as patchy ice persists into the morning.
