Kansas City, MO – Northern and central Missouri residents woke up to light snow this morning, creating slick roads and single-digit wind chills. The snow is expected to taper off by midday, but drivers should remain cautious on untreated roads.
According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations will stay below an inch, but conditions may still cause hazardous travel. As temperatures climb into the upper 20s today, frigid conditions will persist until a brief warm-up midweek. Tuesday will bring sunny skies and highs near 37 degrees, but overnight lows will dip to around 19.
By Wednesday, temperatures will surge into the low 50s, providing a much-needed break from the cold. However, a strong cold front will arrive Wednesday evening, driving highs down to 30 degrees by Thursday and lows into the teens.
The National Weather Service advises residents to monitor conditions, particularly in areas north of Interstate 70 and along Highway 65. Drivers should plan for icy patches and exercise caution during the early commute.
Looking ahead, Friday will see highs in the low 40s, while the weekend promises partly sunny skies and highs in the 50s. For those with outdoor plans, Wednesday and Saturday appear to offer the most comfortable conditions.
