Missouri starts crisp and quiet this morning, with frost clinging to grassy surfaces before sunshine quickly warms Springfield into a mild afternoon. That calm won’t hold long as a wetter spring pattern begins building toward the region.

According to the National Weather Service, areas of frost develop early before skies turn sunny with highs near 69°F. Winds remain light, but temperatures early feel closer to the upper 30s, especially in low-lying areas.

Tonight stays mostly clear with a low around 42°F, keeping conditions stable for evening travel. Tuesday follows with mostly sunny skies and a high near 68°F, though a light breeze develops through the afternoon.

By Wednesday, temperatures climb to 72°F with gusty south winds up to 24 mph. Dry conditions continue through much of the day, but the atmosphere begins to moisten ahead of the next system.

Rain chances arrive Thursday, with a 30% chance of showers during the day. Roads may turn damp by the afternoon, especially along US-65 and I-44. By Thursday night into Friday, showers become more likely, with temperatures rising to around 75°F. A few thunderstorms could develop, bringing brief downpours and reduced visibility.

Plan outdoor work early in the week while conditions stay dry. Keep an umbrella nearby by Thursday and allow extra time on wet roads late week.
