Kansas City, Missouri – A burst of early summer heat paired with multiple rounds of storms will shape the first days of June in Kansas City, with temperatures pushing toward 90°F and showers likely through midweek.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday will bring mostly sunny skies and a high near 87°F. But beginning Monday night, the chance of thunderstorms returns—bringing 30% rain odds that increase to 80% by Tuesday. Commuters along I-70 should expect slick roads and reduced visibility during potential storm activity late Monday into Tuesday morning.
Localized flooding and lightning will be possible Tuesday into Tuesday night, when rain chances rise to 90% after 1 a.m. Winds will remain light, but isolated thunderstorms could produce higher gusts. By Wednesday, Kansas City could see lingering showers with another round of possible storms late that night. New rainfall totals through Wednesday may range from a tenth to a quarter of an inch, though heavier bursts are possible in thunderstorms.
Highs remain well above normal with Monday topping out near 88°F and Tuesday in the low 80s. Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads and to charge devices in advance of any power disruptions.
Air quality may also be affected due to lingering wildfire smoke from Canada drifting into Missouri and surrounding states.
Looking Ahead:
Thursday brings another round of scattered showers, keeping the area unsettled. Daytime highs will stay in the mid-70s, with muggy summer air likely sticking around into Friday. Stay alert for updated advisories as storm risks shift daily.
