Missouri residents should prepare for another day of gusty winds and elevated fire danger as a Red Flag Warning and Wind Advisory remain in effect through tonight. Wind gusts up to 50 mph will continue, creating hazardous travel conditions and increasing the risk of wildfires, particularly along Highway 65 and other exposed areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, strong southwest winds will persist through the day before shifting northwest overnight. A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. for much of central and southern Missouri. A Red Flag Warning is also active until 11 a.m., signaling critical fire weather conditions due to low humidity and dry vegetation. Any outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, as fires could spread rapidly.
Thursday will bring some relief as winds subside, with sunny skies and a high near 53°F. Overnight, temperatures will drop to the upper 30s, with lighter winds.
Looking ahead, Friday will be partly sunny and breezy, with a high of 65°F. Saturday will see increasing clouds and a chance of showers late in the day, with temperatures reaching the mid-60s. Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny, with highs near 60°F.
Drivers should use caution, particularly on open highways, and secure any loose outdoor items to prevent wind-related damage. Stay updated with local weather alerts as conditions evolve.
