Kansas City, MO – A strong cold front moving into the Kansas City region late Tuesday into Wednesday will deliver one of the sharpest temperature drops of the month, according to the National Weather Service in Kansas City. Forecasters say daytime temperatures may fall nearly 20 degrees, signaling a noticeably colder stretch just before Thanksgiving.

According to the National Weather Service, highs on Monday and early Tuesday will still reach the mid to upper 50s, but the arrival of the front Tuesday evening will shift the region into a much colder pattern. By Wednesday, forecast highs drop into the upper 30s to mid-40s, with morning lows tumbling into the lower to mid-20s across much of the area.

NWS notes that no rain is expected with the frontal passage itself. However, light rain is forecast earlier on Monday before drier air pushes in behind the front. Winds will turn north and usher in colder, drier conditions through midweek.

Thanksgiving Day is expected to be sunny but chilly, with highs again only reaching the upper 30s to mid-40s, along with cold morning starts in the 20s. Travel impacts remain low, but residents heading out early for holiday plans or local events should prepare for below-normal temperatures.

Forecasters say temperatures will begin a slow rebound into Friday, but conditions will remain on the cold side with highs ranging from the low 40s to low 50s.
