Kansas City, MO – Northern Missouri residents are facing a mix of weather threats today as fog gives way to storms capable of producing damaging winds and hail.
According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, a dense fog advisory remains in effect for northern Missouri through 9 a.m. Sunday, September 21, 2025, with visibility reduced to a quarter-mile or less. Motorists are urged to use caution during early travel hours.
Storms will develop later this morning across eastern Kansas and western Missouri, followed by another round this afternoon and evening. Forecasters warn that a few of these storms could turn strong, producing gusty winds and hail up to the size of a quarter, particularly in areas south of Highway 36.
High temperatures are expected to reach the mid-70s to lower 80s. Additional storm chances are in the forecast through midweek, with a stronger system possible Monday into Tuesday that could pose further severe weather risks.
Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware, monitor local forecasts, and be prepared to take shelter if severe warnings are issued.
