Kansas City, MO – Residents in Kansas City and the surrounding areas should prepare for a rainy start to the week, as rain is expected to return Sunday into Monday. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Kansas City has forecasted below-normal temperatures through the weekend and into early next week, bringing some relief from the summer heat.

According to the NWS, there is no hazardous weather expected over the weekend, but showers and isolated thunderstorms are anticipated as we head into Sunday and Monday. Rainfall amounts could range from 0.25 to 1.5 inches, with the heaviest downpours likely south of Kansas City in areas like Butler and Bolivar. This wet weather will bring temperatures down, with highs remaining in the lower 80s, significantly cooler than the August average.

Sunday’s forecast shows a high of 83°F, with a 45% chance of rain increasing as we move into Monday. By Tuesday, rain chances remain around 50%, with slightly cooler temperatures in the low 80s. The weather is expected to gradually warm up by midweek, reaching highs near 88°F by Wednesday. Residents are advised to plan accordingly and keep an umbrella handy for the coming days.
