KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Storms could disrupt late-night travel in Kansas City tonight, but drivers can expect clearer skies by Sunday. Any showers that develop along I-70 and nearby roads may cause slick spots, though rainfall should remain light and brief.

According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, a slight chance of thunderstorms lingers before dawn Saturday, with clouds gradually giving way to sunshine. Highs will reach near 85 Saturday before cooling to around 59 overnight. Conditions improve further Sunday, when skies turn sunny with a high near 79, making it the best day of the weekend for outdoor events and travel.

Residents planning Sunday activities should expect calm winds and comfortable temperatures. Evening lows dip to about 61 under partly cloudy skies. Monday follows with mostly cloudy conditions and highs around 75, but rain holds off until later in the week.

By Tuesday, Kansas City warms again with sunny skies and highs near 77, while Wednesday stays mostly sunny with highs reaching 79. The next round of unsettled weather arrives Thursday into Friday, when scattered showers and storms return. Commuters should watch for slower travel and wet roads late week.

Weather officials urge residents to monitor updates if planning late-week outdoor gatherings or road trips, especially with renewed storm chances.
