Springfield, MO – Residents of Springfield, Missouri, are advised to prepare for a significant rise in temperatures as the weekend approaches. After enjoying relatively mild conditions, with temperatures staying in the low to mid-80s, a shift in the weather pattern is expected to bring heat and humidity back to the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, temperatures will gradually warm up, with highs reaching the mid-90s by Sunday. Thursday is expected to remain partly cloudy, with a high of 87°F, providing one last relatively mild day before the heat sets in. By Friday, temperatures will climb into the lower 90s, and by Saturday, the mercury is set to soar to around 96°F. The peak of the heatwave is expected on Sunday, with temperatures likely reaching 97°F.

The warm conditions are forecasted to persist into next week, with Monday seeing highs in the mid-90s as well. Fortunately, there are no significant chances of rain over the next several days, though the increasing humidity will make it feel much hotter.

Residents are encouraged to take necessary precautions against the heat, including staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun, and checking on vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and those without access to air conditioning. With school back in session, parents and students should also prepare for hot weather during commutes and outdoor activities.

Stay tuned to local weather updates as conditions could change rapidly, particularly with the potential for heat advisories over the weekend.
