Springfield, Missouri – Dry skies and seasonable heat continue across Missouri through Thursday, but temperatures will edge higher just in time for the Fourth of July, bringing a wave of heat-related concerns for weekend plans.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, highs today will range from 84–87°F with mostly sunny skies and calm winds. Overnight lows will dip to the mid-60s with patchy valley fog possible under clear conditions. Thursday climbs to 87–90°F ahead of a warmer, more humid stretch.

By Friday, highs will hit 88–92°F across the Ozarks with heat index values reaching 100°F through Sunday. While the heat isn’t classified as extreme, those spending extended time outdoors are at risk for dehydration, exhaustion, or heat stroke—especially during peak afternoon hours. Isolated thunderstorms (10–40% chance) are also in the mix each day.

Communities from Branson to Rolla should take precautions by drinking plenty of water, taking breaks in shade or air conditioning, and never leaving children or pets in vehicles.

Heat and humidity are expected to linger through the weekend, with additional advisories possible.
