KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Frost Advisory is in effect across much of northern and central Missouri as temperatures are expected to dip near freezing early Thursday morning. Residents across the Kansas City metro, St. Joseph, and surrounding counties could see frost formation between 4 and 8 a.m., threatening outdoor vegetation and gardens.

According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, the advisory covers portions of east-central, northeast, and north-central Missouri, including Jackson, Platte, Clay, and Cass counties. Temperatures as low as 34 degrees will be enough to create frost on exposed surfaces, especially in rural and low-lying areas.

Homeowners and growers are urged to protect tender plants or bring them indoors before temperatures fall overnight. Sensitive outdoor vegetation may be damaged or killed if left uncovered.

Frost conditions are expected to ease by midmorning Thursday as sunshine returns and temperatures climb back into the upper 40s and 50s. However, additional advisories may be issued if clear skies and light winds persist into the weekend.

Areas Affected: Atchison, Miami, Linn, Doniphan, Leavenworth, Wyandotte, and multiple northern Missouri counties including Nodaway, Worth, and Daviess.

Warnings remain in effect through 8 a.m. Thursday.
