Springfield, MO – Hot and humid conditions are expected to build across Missouri from today through Tuesday, with heat index values forecasted to reach between 100 to 108 degrees on Tuesday. Residents are urged to stay cool and hydrated during this period.
According to the US National Weather Service in Springfield, today’s temperatures will range from 93 to 97 degrees, while Tuesday will see highs between 95 and 101 degrees. By Wednesday, temperatures are expected to drop slightly, ranging from 83 to 96 degrees. The heat index values, however, will remain dangerously high, especially on Tuesday.
To cope with the extreme heat, the National Weather Service advises never to leave children or pets unattended in vehicles, to take frequent breaks in the shade or air-conditioned environments, and to avoid consuming alcohol and caffeine. Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water, even if not thirsty, is crucial.
