Jefferson City, Missouri – Missouri heads into the Feb 5–9 period under a sharply divided temperature pattern, with above-normal temperatures expected across northwestern parts of the state while southeastern Missouri trends colder than average. Despite the contrast, precipitation chances remain limited statewide, keeping the risk for significant snow or rain relatively low during this stretch.

According to the National Weather Service and NOAA outlooks, a broad cold pattern remains locked across much of the eastern U.S., but its influence weakens toward the Plains. In Missouri, this setup allows milder air to hold across the northwest, including areas near Kansas City and the Iowa and Nebraska borders, where daytime highs are expected to run above early-February averages. Farther southeast, including St. Louis, Cape Girardeau, and the Bootheel, colder-than-normal air will dominate, especially overnight.

In central Missouri, temperatures will vary day to day as the boundary between the warmer and colder air masses shifts slightly. While occasional flurries are possible in the southeast, widespread accumulating snow appears unlikely. The uneven temperature pattern follows recent weeks in which nearly 100 temperature-related deaths have been reported across southern states, highlighting the risks tied to prolonged exposure, even during quieter weather periods.

State officials urge residents to stay aware of changing conditions, use heating sources safely, and check on vulnerable neighbors. The split temperature pattern is expected to persist through the period, with additional advisories possible if colder air expands farther northwest.
