St. Louis, MO – Dreary conditions will linger through Monday as widespread rain enters the region by afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in St. Louis.

Forecasters say rain chances climb to 80–90% Monday afternoon and night, with up to a quarter inch of rainfall possible. The system is expected to taper off early Tuesday morning before a brief warmup occurs.

By Tuesday, temperatures will rise into the upper 50s and low 60s, though a cold front will quickly follow, bringing cooler and drier air by Wednesday. Morning lows will drop into the low to mid-30s, with highs staying in the upper 40s.

“Rain will overspread the area Monday afternoon and continue overnight,” the NWS reported Sunday. “After a warm Tuesday, more seasonable weather returns midweek.”

Motorists planning early holiday travel are advised to allow extra time Monday evening due to wet roads and potential visibility reductions.
