Kansas City, Missouri – Wind gusts up to 40 mph will continue to impact travel and outdoor conditions across western Missouri through late Sunday evening, with the strongest gusts expected before midnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, northerly winds will remain elevated through the evening, with peak gusts between 35 and 40 mph affecting cities including Kansas City, Lee’s Summit, St. Joseph, and Olathe. Winds are expected to gradually diminish overnight as cooler air settles into the region.
The gusty conditions could make driving difficult on exposed roadways such as I-70 and I-35, especially for high-profile vehicles. Loose outdoor items may be blown around, and minor tree limb damage is possible in isolated areas.
By Monday, temperatures will drop, bringing a cooler start to the workweek with highs below recent averages. Light rain or isolated sprinkles may develop Monday into Tuesday, mainly across northern Missouri, though widespread impacts are not expected.
Temperatures will rebound later in the week, climbing above normal by Wednesday and Thursday before a more organized system brings broader rain chances late Thursday into Friday.
Residents should secure outdoor items tonight and remain cautious while driving in gusty conditions. Additional updates may be issued if wind impacts persist.
