Kirksville, MO – Snow will move in late tonight, with enough accumulation to create slick roads just in time for the Tuesday morning commute across northern Missouri.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Monday to 1 p.m. Tuesday for counties along the Iowa border, including Harrison, Mercer, Putnam, Sullivan, and Worth. Snow totals are expected to reach up to 2 inches, though a narrow band could bring slightly higher amounts in isolated areas.

The snow is expected to develop after 10 p.m., with the steadiest snowfall occurring overnight into early Tuesday morning. Communities such as Kirksville, Bethany, Princeton, and Unionville may see roads become snow-covered before sunrise.

Even light accumulations could create hazardous travel, especially on untreated roads and bridges. Drivers should reduce speeds and allow extra time for the morning commute.

Snow will taper off by early afternoon Tuesday, but slick spots may linger beyond that as temperatures remain near freezing.
