Wentzville, MO – Drivers along Interstate 70 in St. Charles County should prepare for overnight delays and a significant lane shift beginning tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 9, as part of MoDOT’s Improve I-70 project between Warrenton and Wentzville.

According to MoDOT, crews will close the westbound right lane of I-70 between Wentzville Parkway and the Foristell Weigh Station from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 9 a.m. Wednesday to perform weather-dependent roadway work. Intermittent lane closures are also scheduled between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday to clean and prepare pavement for new striping following recent winter weather.

Once pavement cleaning is complete, crews will close the westbound right lane again Tuesday evening to remove the existing barrier wall and install a new one in preparation for a long-term traffic shift. When work wraps up early Wednesday, all westbound lanes will reopen and move slightly to the right, placing drivers on newly constructed pavement that will serve as the future shoulder.

MoDOT will also close the westbound exit and entrance ramps at David Hoekel Parkway and the westbound Foristell Weigh Station tonight from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. to safely move barrier walls and finalize the shift.

This marks the start of Phase 2 of adding a third lane in each direction on I-70. The new configuration is expected to remain in place through early summer 2026 as construction continues across the corridor.

Full project details are available on MoDOT’s website.
