St. Louis County, MO – Commuters in St. Louis County should expect delays on northbound Interstate 270 after a lane closure near the I-44 interchange was extended into Thursday morning.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), the right lane of northbound I-270 over Interstate 44 remains closed after a girder was struck by equipment on a tractor trailer Wednesday evening. The incident occurred on the I-270 bridge and caused structural damage requiring immediate assessment and repair.
The affected section begins just after the exit ramp from northbound I-270 to eastbound I-44. While both the eastbound and westbound I-44 exit ramps remain open, the westbound exit is operating with a narrowed lane due to damage from the impact.
MoDOT officials urge drivers to consider alternate routes and allow for extra travel time during the Thursday morning commute. Engineers are currently evaluating the extent of the damage to determine the necessary repairs and timeline for reopening the lane.
Motorists are encouraged to consult MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for real-time updates before heading out: traveler.modot.org/map.
