Springfield, MO – The National Weather Service confirmed two tornadoes touched down in Missouri on March 14, causing structural damage and injuries.
According to NWS Springfield, an EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 100 mph formed five miles north of Diggins, traveling northeast through western Wright County. The 17.27-mile-long tornado damaged barns, tore the roof off a home, and collapsed a cell phone tower. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
A second tornado, rated EF-2, developed four miles southeast of Doolittle, tracking through southeastern Rolla. With winds reaching 120 mph, the storm damaged several homes, schools, and businesses, shattering windows and destroying roofs. The tornado crossed I-44 before dissipating south of the Little Prairie Conservation Area. One person was injured.
Officials continue surveying the region for additional tornadoes. Residents are urged to monitor updates and review emergency preparedness plans.
