Kansas City, MO – A sharp temperature drop is expected this week in Kansas City as the coldest conditions of the season arrive. Residents are advised to prepare for freezing overnight lows starting Wednesday, with wind chills making outdoor conditions even colder.

According to the National Weather Service, winds will ease by tonight, with skies gradually clearing. However, temperatures are expected to plunge to a low of 31 degrees Wednesday morning and remain brisk throughout the day. Daytime highs on Wednesday will peak near 50 degrees, with gusty northwest winds up to 20 mph, making it feel much colder.

Thursday will bring the chilliest temperatures of the week, with a high of 43 degrees and lows dipping into the upper 20s overnight. Conditions will remain dry through the weekend, allowing for improved travel and outdoor activity. By Saturday, highs are expected to climb back to the mid-50s, providing some relief just ahead of Thanksgiving week.

Drivers along I-435 and I-70 should remain cautious as frost could develop on bridges and overpasses during the early morning hours, particularly Thursday. Those heading out early should check forecasts and allow extra time for their commute.

For Thanksgiving week, temperatures are forecasted to stay cool but climb steadily into the upper 50s and low 60s by Sunday. Rain chances are minimal through the weekend, with a slight possibility of precipitation returning midweek next week.

Stay tuned for further updates, and ensure your vehicles are winter-ready with proper antifreeze levels and inflated tires to handle the chill.
