Kansas City, MO – Storms could roll into Kansas City just in time to disrupt July 4th celebrations Friday evening, bringing heat, humidity, and the risk of lightning delays across the metro.

According to the National Weather Service, a slight chance of thunderstorms will develop after 1 p.m. Friday, followed by more widespread activity Friday night. Highs will reach near 91°F, with south winds up to 13 mph fueling muggy afternoon conditions. Event planners and residents celebrating outdoors should prepare for fast-developing storms and possible fireworks delays.

Interstate 70 and I-435 corridors may see slick spots or low visibility late Friday, especially during evening travel hours. A 20% storm chance lingers into early Saturday, with rain odds climbing to 50% by Saturday night. Humid conditions will persist, with highs near 88°F through the weekend.

Sunday stays unsettled with a 40% chance of afternoon and evening storms and a high near 87°F. Power outages or tree damage aren’t expected, but isolated heavy rainfall may cause drainage issues in low-lying areas.

By Monday and Tuesday, storm chances remain at 30%, keeping the region on alert. Temperatures will hold in the upper 80s with daily thunderstorm potential.
