Kansas City, Missouri – Scattered severe storms are expected across Missouri Saturday afternoon and evening, bringing the potential for 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, especially in and around Kansas City and Warrensburg.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, the threat is highest from midday through the evening hours, with a Level 1 marginal risk stretching from St. Joseph and Columbia down to the Missouri-Arkansas border. Warm, humid air and smoky skies from Canadian wildfires are contributing to unstable atmospheric conditions.

High temperatures will reach the mid-80s Saturday, climbing to the upper 80s by Monday. The storm threat will return again Tuesday afternoon, when another round of strong to severe storms could impact central and western Missouri. Damaging winds and large hail remain the most likely hazards during both rounds of storms.

Drivers along I-70 and Highway 50 should monitor radar updates and prepare for reduced visibility, sudden wind gusts, and potential hail impacts. Outdoor events may need to be postponed or moved indoors.

Storm activity is expected to taper off overnight, but residents should stay weather-aware. More watches or warnings could be issued ahead of Tuesday’s system.
