Springfield, Missouri – Residents across southwest Missouri should prepare for severe thunderstorms capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and hail up to the size of quarters between 8 p.m. Saturday and 4 a.m. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, an isolated strong to severe thunderstorm could develop across portions of western and central Missouri tonight. Areas including Joplin, Nevada, Bolivar, and Camdenton are within the elevated risk zone.

The primary hazards include damaging wind gusts, hail, and brief heavy downpours. While not widespread, storms could impact travel conditions overnight, especially on I-44 and Route 71. Power outages are also possible if stronger cells develop.

Residents are urged to remain weather aware, secure outdoor items, and have multiple ways to receive warnings overnight. If you’re in a mobile home or area prone to tree damage, consider relocating or reviewing shelter options in advance.

This system marks the start of a more unsettled pattern into early next week. Additional updates or alerts may be issued as storm coverage evolves.
