St. Louis, MO – The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) is reminding residents that free, confidential support is available for anyone impacted by crime through its Victim Services Unit, which connects survivors to advocacy, counseling, and legal assistance.

According to the department, trained victim advocates are assigned by police district to help residents navigate the criminal justice process, apply for Missouri’s Crime Victims’ Compensation program, and create personalized safety plans. The unit also offers referrals for housing, shelter, food, and other essential needs.

The department partners with several regional organizations, including the Crime Victim Center, Safe Connections, YWCA Women’s Resource Center, and ALIVE (Alternatives to Living in Violent Environments)—all of which provide 24-hour hotlines, counseling, and crisis intervention.

Victims of domestic violence can also seek assistance with filing Orders of Protection online through the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court of St. Louis. The online portal allows residents to submit petitions and access fillable court forms directly from home.

A recent SLMPD social media post highlighted the agency’s ongoing collaboration with local advocates who have worked alongside the police department for more than two decades to expand victim support access citywide.

For immediate help, residents can contact SLMPD Victim Services at 314-444-5836 or visit slmpd.org/victims for a complete list of resources.
