Missouri – Residents in St. Louis, Kansas City, and surrounding areas should prepare for dangerous weather conditions Friday, as high winds and fire risks increase across the state.
According to the National Weather Service, a Wind Advisory is in effect from noon Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday across portions of central and southern Illinois and Missouri. Winds from the south will reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph. Meanwhile, Kansas City faces a High Wind Watch with gusts potentially reaching 60 mph, posing risks to power lines, trees, and unsecured objects.
Fire Weather Concerns
A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued for east-central Kansas and west-central Missouri, where low humidity (15-25%) and strong winds increase wildfire risks. Residents are advised to avoid outdoor burning and remain vigilant for fire hazards.
