St. Louis, MO – A Red Flag Warning is in effect from noon until 7 p.m. today for much of eastern and central Missouri, including St. Louis, Jefferson City, and Columbia. The National Weather Service warns of critical fire weather conditions, increasing the risk of rapid fire spread.

According to the US National Weather Service St. Louis, strong winds and low humidity levels will create dangerous conditions for outdoor burning. Areas outside the official warning zone will still experience elevated fire risks.

Residents are urged to avoid all outdoor burning, properly dispose of cigarette butts, and refrain from parking vehicles on dry grass. These precautions help prevent accidental fires that could spread quickly in today’s conditions.

The Red Flag Warning highlights the importance of fire safety awareness, as any uncontrolled flames could become difficult to contain. Weather conditions are expected to improve after 7 p.m., but caution is advised throughout the evening.
