Springfield, Mo. – Intermittent rain showers will keep much of Missouri damp through Tuesday, with the heaviest activity focused this afternoon. Drivers across the state may encounter wet roads and reduced visibility during the morning and evening commutes.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, most locations will pick up between a quarter and three-quarters of an inch of rainfall, with isolated pockets near one inch. The highest coverage today extends from Branson and Joplin east toward Rolla, while Tuesday’s rain will be more concentrated south of Interstate 44. No flooding or severe weather is expected.

Cities including Springfield, Lebanon, and Mountain Grove should prepare for repeated rounds of showers, while drier breaks may briefly return before the next wave of rain. Farther north, communities along Highway 54 such as Osage Beach will see lower chances of rainfall but still need to remain weather aware.

Travelers are urged to allow extra time and avoid driving through standing water on rural roads. Outdoor events may face disruptions, particularly south of I-44 where showers persist longer into Tuesday.

Conditions turn drier and warmer Wednesday before another cold front brings additional rain by Wednesday night.
