Columbia, MO – A frost advisory has been issued for Central and Eastern Missouri, with temperatures expected to drop into the low 30s overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning. The advisory, in effect from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday, covers counties including Boone, Callaway, and Randolph, among others.

The National Weather Service warns that the cold air will lead to frost formation, which could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Plants left uncovered may be damaged or killed by the frost, particularly in low-lying areas. Residents are urged to cover outdoor plants or bring them indoors to prevent frostbite.

In addition to vegetation, outdoor water lines are also at risk of freezing. Homeowners are advised to insulate exposed pipes or allow them to drip slowly to avoid damage. While temperatures will rise after sunrise, frost could linger into the morning hours in some areas, especially where winds remain calm.
