Jasper County, MO – A Kansas man was taken into custody Monday morning after allegedly leading authorities on a multi-county pursuit in a stolen vehicle that crossed into Missouri.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were alerted around 8:56 a.m. to a vehicle stolen out of Cherokee County, Kansas, that was being pursued into Jasper and Barton counties in Missouri. Deputies from Jasper and Barton counties, along with the Missouri Highway Patrol and Jasper Police Department, coordinated efforts to contain the chase.

Authorities reported that tire deflation devices were deployed, and although the suspect’s vehicle struck the devices, it continued traveling. The pursuit slowed near CR210 and Tranquil Road, where a Crawford County deputy executed a tactical vehicle intervention maneuver, safely stopping the vehicle.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Tyler A. Ritz of Pittsburg, Kansas, was taken into custody without further incident. Law enforcement confirmed the vehicle had been stolen from Cherokee County.

Ritz faces multiple charges in Jasper County, including resisting arrest and traffic violations under Valentine’s Law. Additional charges from other jurisdictions in both Kansas and Missouri may follow as the investigation continues.

No injuries were reported during the course of the pursuit.
