Springfield, Mo. – Residents across the Missouri Ozarks and southeast Kansas will see scattered showers and storms linger through Tuesday, with the highest rain chances focused on far western Missouri and southeast Kansas.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, rain coverage will range from 15 to 60 percent through Tuesday evening, with a mix of scattered thunderstorms possible. Temperatures will run in the 70s and low 80s during the day before cooling into the 50s overnight.

Labor Day plans could be interrupted by passing showers, particularly in Joplin, Neosho, and Pittsburg, Kansas, where isolated storms may bring brief downpours. Road travel may be slowed by slick conditions, especially on Interstates 44 and 49.

Conditions turn drier by Wednesday, but another round of showers is expected Wednesday night as a cold front slides through the region. Behind the front, cooler and less humid air settles in for Thursday and Friday, bringing sunny skies and more comfortable evenings.
