Springfield, Mo. – Missouri’s stretch of hot, dry weather shows no signs of letting up as highs remain locked in the 80s through Saturday, extending already parched conditions across the Ozarks. Residents hoping for drought relief will likely be waiting longer, with the National Weather Service noting no rainfall in sight this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, daily highs will run several degrees above the seasonal norm of mid-70s, climbing into the mid to upper 80s across southwest Missouri. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 50s and low 60s, offering only limited cooling. A weak signal for rain exists in early October, but confidence remains low.

The ongoing pattern raises concerns for agriculture and water supply in the Ozarks, where drought conditions continue to deepen. Outdoor burning restrictions are in place across multiple counties, and officials warn residents to avoid open flames, keep vehicles off dry grass, and conserve water where possible.

Springfield, Branson, and Joplin are expected to see some cloud cover midweek, though skies will stay mostly sunny and rain-free. Warm afternoons and mild evenings will dominate into early next week.

Dry and above-normal temperatures are expected to persist through mid-October, with future advisories possible if drought conditions worsen.
