Missouri Ozarks Storms Today: Clearing Expected by Thursday

Springfield, MO – Residents across the Missouri Ozarks and extreme Southeast Kansas should prepare for showers and thunderstorms today and tonight before conditions clear heading into Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service Springfield, storms will bring a 60–80% chance of rain during the day Wednesday with temperatures reaching between 72 and 78 degrees. Tonight, showers remain possible at a 20–80% chance, with lows ranging from 55 to 60 degrees.

By Thursday, skies will gradually clear, and drier weather is expected to continue through the weekend. Highs will climb into the mid- to upper-70s Thursday and near 80 degrees on Friday. Weekend conditions look mostly sunny, with Saturday and Sunday bringing highs in the low 80s and overnight lows in the 50s.

Forecasters note that temperatures through the weekend will run slightly above normal for late September.

Drivers should watch for wet roads during today’s storms, and outdoor plans may need to be adjusted. However, improved weather is on the way, offering a stretch of dry and sunny conditions for the first full weekend of fall.
